荷兰人gertjan为鹿特丹影展工作。
有一天，我问他，我应该去还是留。
该如何选择我的未来？
他对我说，不是选择此或彼。
是选择，一个你，和一个更好的你。
他说，是选择做学者的你，还是做更优秀的学者的你。
正如他自己，总是想做最优秀的选片人，所以他去非洲，去所有其他选片人不去的地方。
（他的工作基地还包括北京的宋庄）
和做学者比起来，也许去发现电影是更美好的一个工作。
我暂时这么想着。

My Dutch friend Gertjan works for the Rotterdam International Film Festival.
One day---not too long ago, I consulted him about my career choice, which according to him
showed that I was "very desperate".
(come on...I always thinks he's my mentor)
He then told me that it's not about choosing between two different places but between a you and a better you. Gertjan himself isn't content to be just "a programmer", but a "great programmer"...so he went to Africa, places that the other programmers won't travel to.
Then he asked me, am I trying to become a scholar, or a "better scholar"?
Now here we are, ready for the screenings. Compared to the prospective of being a scholar (well...), maybe to program feels more exciting? Let me indulge in this idea for a while...
